Willow Grove, PA – More than 5,500 employees of Asplundh Tree Expert, LLC and Asplundh Infrastructure Group, LLC were deployed to Florida and The Carolinas in the past week to assist utilities and municipalities across these states in the restoration of power to more than 2.5 million households in the wake of Hurricane Ian. The storm made landfall in Florida on the afternoon of Wednesday, September 28 as a Category 4 and crossed the state bringing with it damage from flooding and high winds of more than 150 miles an hour at its peak strength. Over the weekend, it made landfall in The Carolinas, knocking out power to more than 24,000 homes. Many crews that had traveled to Florida were redeployed to The Carolinas as a result. As of Monday morning, October 3, those efforts helped restore power to 1.9 million homes.

Asplundh’s storm response consisted of vegetation crews from more than 30 regions around the country that traveled from as far away as Illinois, North Dakota, Pennsylvania and Colorado. They were joined by employees from 16 regions of Asplundh Infrastructure Group who have been deployed to the state to assist with rebuilding damaged utility distribution and transmission lines, traffic systems and roadway lighting. Those employees work for Asplundh Construction, Utility Lines Construction Services, Musgrove Construction, Traffic Control Devices, Grid One Solutions and American Lighting and Signalization. Those traveling crews supplemented thousands of employees already based in both Florida and The Carolinas.

All storm response efforts are coordinated by Asplundh’s Storm Management Team at the company’s Home Office in Willow Grove. That team will remain on duty to fulfill additional requests for crews and address logistics issues until all deployed crews have been released and returned to their home locations.
