Willow Grove, PA –The board of Asplundh Tree Expert, LLC, the nation’s largest utility vegetation management company, has elected Steven G. Asplundh to the position of chairman of the board and Matthew B. Asplundh to the role of chief executive officer. With a combination of more than 65 years of experience in field operations and in Asplundh’s corporate management, the changes come as part of the Company’s successional leadership planning.
After 42 years of service, former Chairman of the Board/CEO Scott M. Asplundh is reducing his role in the daily operations of the corporation due to health reasons. He will continue to work in the Company as vice-chairman and serve on the board of directors. “Steven, Matt and I have worked closely together on Asplundh’s executive team for more than 23 years,” said Scott. “Their contributions have been an integral part of the Company’s success and I have full confidence in the experience Steven and Matt bring to the table to lead Asplundh into its 93rd year of operation.” Founded in 1928 and headquartered in the Philadelphia area, Asplundh Tree Expert, LLC primarily serves the electric utility industry. The corporation and its subsidiaries employ over 33,000 service professionals throughout the U.S., Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
Steven Asplundh, who most recently served as chief operating officer for UtiliCon Solutions, LLC since 2017, has worked throughout the Company for 35 years and earned an MBA from Georgia State University. Matt Asplundh earned a bachelor’s degree in management from the University of Central Florida and has almost 30 years of industry experience, including 23 years as an executive. Most recently, Matt served as executive vice president with responsibility for 23 field management regions and seven subsidiaries.
