GIVING BACK TO OUR COMMUNITIES
For more than 95 years, Asplundh has been helping communities build and maintain safe and effective power. We started right here in the Philadelphia area and are still headquartered there. We’ve grown to provide the same great service to communities across the country, including Canada, New Zealand, and Australia.
Beyond keeping the lights on
We’re there to keep power lines clear but are often called on to help communities recover from hurricanes, ice storms, and other natural disasters. When a storm or emergency puts the lights out, Asplundh is there to help them get back on quickly and safely. Community and sustainability are not just parts of our business. We live and work in the same communities. Our people are part of and support local schools, churches, hospitals, sports clubs, non-profits, and other institutions in their neighborhoods.
Making a lasting impact
Supporting our neighboring communities is a mission we take to heart. Whether through tree planting campaigns, providing vegetation to local zoos, promoting eco-friendly line-clearance practices, or providing job opportunities in the green industry, our colleagues are dedicated to nurturing, protecting and sustaining the environment for future generations.
A Winning Partnership:
Asplundh Teams Up with the Phillies
We are proud to announce that Asplundh is one of the “Official Community and Sustainability Partners of the Phillies!” We are excited about the potential of this strategic partnership rooted in our mutual values of tradition, teamwork, and a deep commitment to our communities.
For more than 95 years, Asplundh has served the utility industry, helping communities build, recover and thrive in a changing world. We are thrilled to welcome Asplundh, a world leader in our own backyard, to the Phillies family as they join us in several important causes.
We’re very excited to partner with the Phillies and work with the team to strengthen our long-standing ties to the Philadelphia community established over the last 95 years. Sustainability and medical advancement in treating ALS are important initiatives to Asplundh, and we look forward to collaborating with the Phillies and the community to advance these goals.
Making an Impact On and Off the Field
As the team’s Community and Sustainability Partner, we are aiming for a home run on several key initiatives aligned with the Phillies:
Phillies, Fans and Asplundh Rally in Support of MLB’s Lou Gehrig Day
$750,004 Raised for ALS Patient Care and Research to #StrikeOutALS
Thanks to the support of Phillies fans and the generosity of Asplundh and their employees at this evening’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals, $750,004 was raised to #StrikeOutALS during the team’s ALS Awareness Night at Citizens Bank Park. This amount includes an on-field donation of $350,000 made by the event’s presenting sponsor, Asplundh, in honor of its former Chairman of the Board/CEO Scott Asplundh, who is battling ALS. Monies raised will benefit ALS United Mid-Atlantic and go toward much-needed research, care and services for ALS patients.
The ballpark-wide event, held in conjunction with MLB’s league-wide Lou Gehrig Day, was a continuation of the Phillies’ efforts to make a difference for those battling this fatal disease. The Phillies have helped raise more than $23 million for the cause since the club’s relationship began in 1984 with ALS United Mid-Atlantic.
“Our 40-year mission to strike out ALS remains unwavering as we aim to offer hope and help to the courageous individuals affected by this awful disease,” said Phillies Charities, Inc. President John Weber. “Everything we did tonight, and will continue to do, is in hopes of advancing effective treatments and ultimately the cure for ALS. Thank you to Asplundh, and to all who joined us, to aid ALS United Mid-Atlantic in their efforts.”
HOME RUNS FOR TREES
Swinging for the fences, planting for greener communities
Asplundh is the proud sponsor of the Phillies Home Runs for Trees program. For each home run hit by a Phillies player, a tree is planted in the Greater Philadelphia area by the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society. More than 2,000 trees have been planted in the community since the program started in 2012.
As part of the 2024 tree planting event, 201 Phillies Home Runs for Trees, donated by Asplundh, were distributed, with some tagged with the names of the Phillies’ top home run hitters this past season, including Kyle Schwarber, Bryce Harper, Nick Castellanos, Trea Turner, Brandon Marsh, Alec Bohm, J.T. Realmuto, Bryson Stott and Edmundo Sosa. Read more here.

COMMUNITY GIVING: ASPLUNDH IN ACTION
Donations to the Superhero Project
On November 16, 2023, dozens of Asplundh employees at the Home Office in Willow Grove donated more than 60 pairs of new pajamas and volunteered time to pack and prepare more than 50 care packages for the Superhero Project a non-profit organization based in Ambler, PA, that supports new mothers whose newborns are receiving hospital care. Those packages were dropped off at a local NICU department.
Fundraising for ALS
Last year, Asplundh Home Office fundraising efforts on raising money for ALS research and care. During the year, the Willow Grove Headquarters hosted monthly fundraisers, from lunch-time bingo sessions to small-prize raffles. At the end of the year, employee participation in those efforts in addition to matching donations from other sources raised more than $38,000 for ALS in 2023.
Camp Out for Hunger
In November 2023, employees at the Home Office in Willow Grove collected nearly 1,800 pounds of food donations – enough to fill the entire chip box of a bucket truck – for Preston & Steve’s Camp Out for Hunger. The food drive is the nation’s largest single food collection event and last year collected more than 1.7 million pounds of food, all of which was donated to Philabundance, a food bank that delivers meals to people in need throughout the greater Philadelphia region.
Supporting Cristo Rey
In 2023, Asplundh partnered with Cristo Rey, a private college preparatory high school in Philadelphia, to provide roles for students in its work-study program. We began the year with accepting two students with roles in our HR and Corporate Communications Teams where they are currently gaining valuable career experience in preparation for college. In addition to giving students these work opportunities, Asplundh has committed to providing financial support to Cristo Rey and its work-study program, which has placed its students in leading Philadelphia area companies since the school’s founding in 2012.
Women’s BRG
In January, Asplundh’s Home Office launched the company’s first Business Resource Group (BRG). This group’s purpose is to provide community, mentorship and learning opportunities for women in the company. The group recently held monthly meetings on a host of topics, discussing diversity and inclusion policy, the functions of various office departments and safety. The Asplundh Women’s BRG plans to host a fundraiser for Dress for Success, a global not-for-profit organization that helps women achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and development tools for success at work and at home.
