Corporate Responsibility

We are a leading provider of utility vegetation management and infrastructure services.

As a leading provider of utility vegetation management and infrastructure services, Asplundh is committed to strengthening our Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principals around workplace and public safety, diversity, equity and inclusion, corporate ethics and environmental sustainability. We believe a strong commitment to corporate responsibility makes us better able to serve our customers, employees and the public.

What We’ve Done

Asplundh Tree Expert, LLC Launches 2022 Sustainability Report

Asplundh is proud to release our inaugural Sustainability Report and announce our commitment to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions with a pathway to net-zero by 2050. We are committed to these goals that align with those of our customers and our communities as we work together to meet the challenge of a greener, more sustainable future.

Partnered with leading ESG rating firm EcoVadis

In 2021 we completed a sustainability assessment with EcoVadis, the world’s most trusted provider of sustainability ratings. The survey provided Asplundh with a performance baseline upon which we are building a strong foundation for a successful ESG program.

Created board-level subcommittee

The Asplundh Board of Directors established an ESG Subcommittee led by Executive Vice President David Fleischner. The subcommittee has set ESG goals, established standards upon which to meet those goals and will report on the company’s ESG initiatives.

Joined CEO group committed to Diversity Equity and Inclusion

Asplundh CEO Matt Asplundh joined more than 2,000 other business leaders around the country as part of the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion™, a coalition pledged to advance diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace.

What We Plan to Do in 2022

Conduct a carbon footprint baseline audit

Asplundh is currently working with Schneider Electric to establish our greenhouse gas (GHG) emission baseline. Later this year we will make a formal declaration of our GHG reduction targets for the near term (2030) and longer term (2050).

Improve EcoVadis score to ‘Bronze’ medal level

Our initial audit showed us strengths upon which to build, particularly our robust safety culture, business ethics and compliance programs, and highlighted areas we can improve to achieve an overall EcoVadis ESG rating of Bronze or better.

Publish 2022 Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) report

Asplundh will publish a corporate social responsibility report at the end of the year to review the success with which we’ve met current goals, assess our performance overall and evaluate objectives.

Hire Full-time leader for ESG coordination

We are hiring a full-time ESG resource, who will play a key role in the advancement of our ESG initiatives, organize reporting on ESG and help align our ESG objectives into business strategy. As an advocate internally and externally, this person will help promote the expression of the company’s vision and values through an ESG lens and share the company’s impact story as a corporate citizen.
